#53- Half Crab, Half Amazing

One of the most incredible turnarounds in Crab Racing history. Joining Sonny’s in May of 2015, in the wave of Dominican Crabs that disproved the accepted wisdom that tropical Crabs couldn’t race in the cold northern climate. He raced for 9 rounds and compiled a pedestrian 3.00 points per race average, making the semi-finals each outing, but failing to finish any better than 3rd. He also sustained a hyperextended chiliped in his 9th race, often a career ending injury.

He enlisted the aid of renowned Crab guru, Damnit Carl, and took a four race hiatus to rehabilitate his injury and work on his finishing skills. Returning on July 22nd, he won his first preliminary, but failed to advance. The following week though, saw him begin a 14 race streak in which he posted an incredible .643 winning percentage, winning 9 of those 14 races.

During his return, he established all-time marks for Points Per Race, Winning Percentage, and Podium Percentage. Some CrabHeads believe that the July Crab was in fact an entirely different Crab, therefore #53’s stats are shown including as well as excluding those first 9 races.
