#46- De Asesino Limon

#46 began his racing career on the east coast of Costa Rica at a resort in Puerto Limon in 2007. He came to dominate the local scene and was picked up by the Cuban National Team later that year. In Cuba, he was part of the legendary “Mejor Equipo de Cangrejo Jamás” (Best Crab Team Ever) which toured the western hemisphere taking on all comers.

While the US embargo made it difficult for a crab to jump from Cuba to the US, #46 arranged for the move by convincing Castro and the Cuban authorities that racing in the US would display the dominance of Cuban Crab Racing in particular and the glory of the Cuban system in general. So in May of 2008, he acquired his transfer to Sonny’s Crab Racing and announced his presence with authority by winning 15 straight races and 5 Corvettes to start his stateside career. Over the next 6 months, he amassed 19 wins (Tie for 1st in league history) including 7 Corvettes (a league record) while he established still standing league marks in Points Per Race (7.067), Win Percentage (.633), Consecutive Wins (8), and Podium Percentage (.933).

An interesting side note- while racing for the Cuban Nationals, one of his stablemates was a Crab who went by the nickname “Viejo Descuidado” (Old Sloppy). Old Sloppy’s Grandson would race for Sonny’s a few years later and become known as “#83- The Greatest Crab of All Time”.
