Chimichanga Cheesy Burrito!
Crab racing on a Friday night! Excellent way to start a weekend. We’re on the road to Montpelier and the Legendary Oil City Tavern for Crab Racing USA. Montpelier is about 22 minutes from Folkie’s back porch and it was a beautiful summer night for a road trip.
The OCT sits precariously on a jog in Indiana 18 just as you enter Montpelier. Parking is laissez faire sort of deal, the key being leave yourself an alternate exit. Once inside, the bar is conveniently located straight ahead and runs off to the east toward the restrooms and a large annex that had some booths, a dance floor, and a stage. It also made a perfect space for Crab Racing. We had Karen behind the bar. Harriet in the kitchen. And on the floor, serving yourself- You! Sonny lined them up and signed them up, and at that point, the only honorable thing to do was-

These guys didn’t do bad for a bunch of Virgins (crustaceanwise, that is). A little trouble getting’ them back at halftime, but by the end of the evening it was SRO around the table. Congrats to Scotty for getting his first win at his first crab race. CSR knocks down another out-of-town podium finish. And Kenny rounds out the top three.
Time to head back west to Folksie’s. A very pleasurable drive into another beautiful Indiana summer sunset. Did I mention it’s twenty minutes till ten?
